I have been playing with a new Triquint ULNA device (TQP3M9036). It
Shows a lot of promise. It is like a MAR or MSA device in that it is
50ohm in and out. and has a claimed NF about .4db nf ( their numbers).
I have built several pramps to test them and have gotten even better
than they claim and they cover 50-1296 with ease and NF is .4ish or
below. The S11 and S22 are both great and the OIP3 is +35db also
...very nice device. It has great promise as a good terrestrial LNA.
Preamps are foolproof to build and would cost under $50 if all the best
quality parts are used.
Just for information only ...

Hello moonbouncers,
There was very nice CW activity during ARRL contest this year (on all bands except 2m from US) and it is unfortunate I did not have a lot of free time for it.
I also “worked” JT65 logger eme (I thought: who is going to find out anyway??) and apart from constant chatter I also found JAMMING.... a lot of Jamming, even from its own creator!!?
Check a small part of it from N0UK logger:
11/19 17:04 VE3KH you being jammed by K1JT and W6YX (W7IUV Larry WA DN07dg 216.215.40.193)
11/19 17:05 Why Larry .... they on 142 also? (VE3KH Kevin ON FN03aj 24.141.203.45)
11/19 17:06 They are calling me to get a contest poitn and it ain't gonna happen!! (W7IUV Larry WA DN07dg 216.215.40.193)
11/19 17:08 Thansk Larry 73 ... Yes, I have been jumped by a quite a few stations (VE3KH Kevin ON FN03aj 24.141.203.45)
11/20 17:47 Also hr k1jt calling me -22 but not ans him (KN4SM/5WL/KW Jerry VA FM16qt 24.241.251.86)
11/20 18:02 Contest = reduced courtesy! (K5DOG/2M Stevedog NM DM52xw 65.127.140.122)
11/20 18:04 Yes, K1JT and W3SZ can hear on gold tooth. (K5DOG/2M Stevedog NM DM52xw 65.127.140.122)
One thing I wouldn’t regret missing on EME is JAMMING!!!

I listened this morning but there was a contest on close to the eme net freq.
I build my 23 cm up and down converter on the a 19 inch chassis. Also a microwave module 2m to 28 MHz converter which output I can switch to my Gen. Radio I.F amp 1236 and my FT 757-GX transceiver. A 12 v. 3 amp psu is added to the chassis. I hope to do some sun noise measurement this afternoon at 23 cm and put the feed horn for max Sun noise. That is the news from this site. 73 have a weekend. Kees Thanks all for check-in's and info, Johnwb2byp
I have this QRO-amplifier for sale but because of the weight and size, only local pickup is possible.
Think ít´s only interesting for amateurs located in Sweden.
It is advertised on:

Got a hint yesterday about another low Noise MMIC.
It's the Avago MGA-633P8 that might be of interest for us.
Anyone made a test already?

Hi Per,
I did, and it works much better than Triquint part, see Dubus 3 & 4 from 2010
Rady made LNA's are available

Rolf wins the smart award for today!
I built a fantastic second preamp switch box with the new relay and LNA, it even had a 12 to 28V boost converter for the relay. Tested the switching out a bit, tested the preamp out a bit, worked great. I'm pretty sure I saw about 1.2 db increase before things started going bad.
After installing on the tower I listend to the weak beacon, then started the transmitter. At that point there was a big problem, the preamp was dead. Quickly I changed out to the old preamp box and was back to normal, then transmitted, LNA now dead. Now I'm in trouble for the contest but can't understand why I would have a failure after going back to the original system.
After some hours of investigation I found sequencer board had failed with a short to supply power to the LNA changeover relays. So not only have the LNA's been destroyed, the sequencer has also failed.
Climbed back up the tower took the original LNA out and brought down, replaced the GAsfet and it appears to work. Replaced sequencer board and relay with spare board and it seems to work. I'm right back to where I started out at minues a few spare parts and one LNA which I don't have the correct replacement transistor for.
Moral of the story...maybe I should not have messed with it in the first place.
73's and hope to see you all in the contest.

Hi Pete
With all respect, just review the post, you spoke about your mmic, great!!!,
I ask for the diagram and you send me, then I found JUST a simple error, I
point you to the error and also I comment the way you rate your preamps, I
propose a new way to mention the "uncertainties...and then , as usual you
boiled to 100% blame me, plan to disrespect me and even f... my s..
Who did the mistake?, My excess was calling you Charlatan, ok i can live
with that error, but Pete think how many times you simple NERVE people on
the reflector, sorry for that but you cross the line, helping a lot of
people with your free devices don't give you the right to blame everybody
who didn't think same like you, examples exist every month, I'm only the
last one from a list of hundreds of people, if you insult me in private, you
cannot pretend to be the Mother Teresa of Calcutta when everybody is reading
you and the when nobody is reading you you behave wear!!.
Sorry, you have your followers!! great but this forum is tired of your
excess an you are abusing the tolerance of the moderator, and yes my English
is very bad, I have my personal qualities in other things than languages,
never the less I can write and communicate in 4 languages, no perfect but I
can, How many you speak? Using the language as a weapon against people is a
discriminatory act, otherwise lets go speak Spanish, my mother tongue , and
you will not have chance for sure.
an if you have something to tell me better write direct to me in Private
because a lot of people is tired about this stupid discussion.

What I want to know ... is what did I do wrong to you to start this. I
thought we were on good terms and on a friendly basis. I never did anything

I plan/hope to be QRV on 144 Mhz and also 432 Mhz, this weekend, with my QRP CW lash up. A recently inherited (and unresolved) QRM problem will probably delay my activity, on 432 Mhz, until > 1 hour, after my moonrise, or ~ 0130Z Saturday / 0230Z Sunday.
I intend to remain QRV throughout much of my common window with Europe, assuming my old bones will allow it, etc., and if the activity level justifies it.
I also hope to be QRV for an hour or so of my JA/VK window, but must QRT on 432 Mhz @ 1240Z on Saturday/1320Z on Sunday due to "hard" obstructions.
I hope to contact old friends, and some new ones.
GL to all!

I will be on eme contest this weekend 2 and 432. I will NOT BE SENDING IN A
LOG Due to the ARRL rule not allowing stations to even look at the loggers
I will be spotting and posting stations who do not have MAP capability and
those with smaller stations who cannot even see all but the big guns. If
you would like to see who agrees with me pse look at the loggers during the
contest as they will not be sending in logs either. Have fun that is what
it is all about. Paul, wa3qpx
Today I have a chance to change out my preamp and would like the groups opinion if it provide any noticable station improvement.
The current preamp is mast mounted 2 meters away from the power divider followed by:
Tohtsu CX-600NL 0.9 db insertion loss
N-connector from CX-600 to CX-140
N-connector from CX-140 to preamp
Tohtsu CX-140d 0.1db insertion loss
preamp .5 noise figure 24 db gain
I would replace with:
Dowkey 402A 0.15 insertion loss
preamp 0.25 noise figure, 27 db gain
Currently the best wsjt decodes I am seeing are at about -25 to -27 db level. Is this worth the effort of making the change?
thanks,
Paul, kg7hf
